Principal  Accountabilities
a. Assist  the  HOD/Nursing  Administrator  in  managing  the  respiratory  therapy  services
b. Evaluate  patient  as  a  basis  for  planning  and  implementing  an  appropriate  management  programme;  assess,  monitor  and  adjust  parameters  and  evaluate  patients  on  mechanical  ventilation.
c. Administer  therapeutic  interventions  to  alleviate  impairment  or  functional  limitations  and  to  maximize  optimal  recovery,  such  as  tracheobronchial  suction  and  assist  in  procedures  such  as  bronchoscopy.
d. Assist  ward  with  respiratory  care  equipment  maintenance.
e. Provide  patient  and  family  education,  as  well  as  in-house  training  to  other  medical  staff.
f. Maintain  clear,  appropriate  and  accurate  documentation  of  all  treatments  in  a  timely  manner
g. Ensure  timely  scheduling  and  billing  of  patients
h. Ensure  a  thorough  and  smooth  handover  of  patients  where  applicable
i. Ensure  that  the  referring  sources  are  updated  appropriately  of  the  patient’s  progress  in  a  timely  manner
j. Participate  in  the  call  back  service
k. Build  and  maintain  good  referral  relationships  with  physicians  and  other  referral  sources
l. Treat  all  information  regarding  patients  as  strictly  confidential
m. Activate  cross  referral  to  the  other  Rehab  disciplines  when  appropriate,  in  consultation  with  the  referring  physician
n. Plan,  coordinate  and  supervise  respiratory  therapy  students  on  clinical  attachments
o. Perform  any  other  duties  as  may  be  assigned  from  time  to  time  by  the  respective  supervisor
